STYLE Dry Sparkling Cider
Fruity - Oaky - Creamy
This is an exceptional cider - this bottle conditioned drink has it all; creamy, fruity beginnings, a warm and rich body, and a structured, tannic and bitter finish.
Fermented in oak and matured for six months more.
Winners of the 2019 BBC Food & Farming Awards 'Best Drinks Producer' the Johnson family have been pressing cider at Broome Farm since the 1930s. Today it is produced in the same traditional way in the unique soil and climate of Herefordshire. The cidermaking is kept pure and simple: The purity comes from using only whole juice, and the simplicity comes from natural fermentation using wild yeast. This approach affords Mike and team the opportunity to make truly special, unique ciders and perries, reflecting the terroir of their farm and their skill as blenders, as evidenced by many awards won over the years.
The range of products available from Ross-on-Wye Cider & Perry is tremendous. From their flagship, Raison D'Être Cider, an 8.4% oak cask bittersweet beauty, to the supremely popular Birdbarker Cider, a 5.2% medium, carbonated easy-going drink.
